The Thankful Challenge Day 3 and Music of the Week

Day 3

1. My past - I am thankful for my past because without it how do we grow, how do we learn and how to move on to our future.

2. Music - Music has always had the power to lift up or make me contemplate. I listen to music when I am happy or sad. It is the blanket that keeps me warm and the ice that wakes me up.

3. Art - It allows me to express myself in ways I can't in words. It allows me to say what I can't.

For music of the week, I chose Icon for hire. They are a band I found through Pandora. They remind me of Paramore before they became poppy.  The words speak to me and pick me up at the same time. I love them

I want her hair, and to be a rock star but that's a story for another time.

Friday Music of the Week: Lacuna Coil

I love these guys. They are an Italian goth band. I have yet to hear any of their songs that don't speak to me or at least get my head bobbing. I don't know much about them except what I found on Wikipedia, which to be honest may not be the most accurate resource, but the lead singer's Cristina Scabbia and Andrea Ferro are a great duo. His voice is deep and harsh contrasting her angelic voice. I love any band that can incorporate hard alternative rock with a female voice. I think it springs back to my delusions of wanting to sing in a rock band, I told you I was a choir nerd in high school, right? Anyway, enjoy these videos I found on you tube!!!

Friday's Music of the Week : The Civil Wars, Delta Rae

I am actually going to post two different bands this week because I found one by listening to the other. I saw the Civil Wars open for Taylor Swift at the Grammy's and I was immediately in love. I love the bluesy-ness (is that a word?). They are a magnificent duo. So, once I found them, I started google-ing
"bands like the civil wars" and Delta Rae came up, similar quality, but again, they are their own entity. Love their sounds!!! Enjoy!
